Rick recently shared, "One of my fondest grade school memories dates back to 4th grade at Maple Plain Elementary in Maple Plain, MN, part of the Orono School District. One day, our teacher announced a field trip to the Maple Plain Nursing Home. I was genuinely excited—partly because it meant getting out of class for half a day, but mostly because I thought it would be fun and interesting. I looked forward to hearing the residents’ stories, playing games with them, and learning about their lives and living arrangements. Looking back, I realize I may have been the only student who was actually eager to visit the nursing home. That experience sparked a lifelong respect and appreciation for older adults. Even today, I find great joy in connecting with, helping, and honoring those who are older, wiser, and deserving of our support and friendship."
